Beginner lessons with a natural horsemanship style. Odessa Abeles will be offering training lessons with an approach that combines natural horsemanship techniques and communication skills with a passion and spirit for horses. These skills benefit riders beyond the stables, teaching patience, trust, understanding, communication, and leadership. Youth students new to riding, or those in their early stages of riding independently, will build a solid foundation on and off the horse. Lessons include time in the saddle and time spent doing on-ground horsemanship. Sessions focus on learning to independently control horses at the walk, trot, and canter, as well as basics about horse care, tacking up, and on-ground control. All lessons maintain a high instructor-to-student ratio to ensure safety and help new riders advance quickly.
Kids Horse Camp 2024
Sauvie Island Stables is offering spring break & summer horse camp! Join us for a fun-filled 5 days with horses, ponies, and goats on our beautiful farm in Portland, OR. Learn all about how to handle and care for horses, ride, and have the opportunity to bond with fellow horse lovers. Our experienced trainers provide a safe environment for campers to improve their horsemanship skills while enjoying fun activities and scenic views.

Age: For beginners 7 - 11
Time: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, Monday - Friday
Rate: $460 for the week
**Payments must be made in full upon registration. $100 is non-refundable if your plans change. We require a two week notice for partial refund.

Must be dropped off and picked up at the main barn at Sauvie Island Stables. We can help to connect parents who are interested in carpooling.
